Hi, my name is Andy. I'm 50 years old and 2 years post treatment for tonsil cancer, 6 weeks tadio and chemo. Some days I still have absolutely no energy and feel completely exhausted. I just wondered if anyone else still feels the effects of treatment after 2 years? Or am I just old?

  • Andy. Have you had your thyroid levels checked? RT to the neck can cause hypothyroidism

  • I haven't, I'll look into that. Thanks

  • Hi Andy. 50 years is not old at all. Radiation fatigue is awful but after 2 years should have very little effect now. Definitely get your thyroid checked as that could definitely be a contributing factor to the fatigue. Your G.P. should do a full blood test as well just to check if there are any other reasons for the fatigue e.g. lack of iron.

i take thyroxine for low thyroid function and I have good energy levels and I am now 71.
