Hi, my name is Andy. I'm 50 years old and 2 years post treatment for tonsil cancer, 6 weeks tadio and chemo. Some days I still have absolutely no energy and feel completely exhausted. I just wondered if anyone else still feels the effects of treatment after 2 years? Or am I just old?

Andy. Have you had your thyroid levels checked? RT to the neck can cause hypothyroidism

Hi Andy. 50 years is not old at all. Radiation fatigue is awful but after 2 years should have very little effect now. Definitely get your thyroid checked as that could definitely be a contributing factor to the fatigue. Your G.P. should do a full blood test as well just to check if there are any other reasons for the fatigue e.g. lack of iron.

i take thyroxine for low thyroid function and I have good energy levels and I am now 71.
