Was told to start using Difflam mouth wash 4 times a after first chemo.
Found that it numbed my tongue and cheeks too much so was told to dilute it with water. Did anyone else feel the same.? Sore mouth hasn't kicked in yet ,only on day 4 of RT.also got bioxtra for lining mouth ,best time to use this ?
Cheers Mark

Yes. It’s anaesthetic which is why we use it. It’s an NSAID which reduces pain and inflammation.
Not much point in using it till you have discomfort? But I’d check that with your team.
I was told to water it down if it hurt to use it. That seems daft

Yes but once you need it it’s best 10 minutes before you try to eat.
How are you feeling?

Personally I stayed off alcohol prior to and during my various treatments. Mainly because it was easier to than for any clinical reason. I am sure one won't harm you at this stage. However, it just keeps the desire going longer into the period when you most definately won't want to drink. After the treatment finished and I was feeling a bit better I was known to put both beer and gin through my PEG - much to the amusement of my dietitians.
not sure if I should have a beer ? I'd love one at moment .
I would
Me? I was 10 days into treatment and had a beer at Christmas time. Had to wait six months before I could really enjoy another.

Why?
You can't taste it and that's the point of a decent ale or an artisan gin and Fever Tree..........
