Hi everyone,

Signed consent forms today to start treatment on Monday 28th.

First day an overnighter in hospital for chemo and radiotherapy day 1.

What did everyone do up to starting treatment? Meal ,out with friends etc ,would like to know ,as at moment can't get my head around it all !

Cheers Mark

  • Hi Mark

I went out for meals with my wife, things I knew I would miss as the treatment wore on, hot curries, chippy food, also booked a few days away at a small boutique hotel.

Best of luck with the treatment

    Peter

  • Enjoy life as much as you can.  The next year is going to be rough, with gradual progress towards your new normal.  I was able to eat out well into the second week, which was useful as we often stayed in a hotel during the treatment as the hospital was so far away.

  • Hi Peter,

Yes I love my curry so may be best to get one of them in ! Daughter is doing a pre Christmas dinner on Sunday bless her .

    Thanks Peter

  • Hi Peter ,

I think that's the way to go until I'm unable to.

    Cheers

  • Madras and Jalfrezi!!!!....16 months post treatment and I can manage a Chasni !!

Just this week I have discovered that Jelly Babies are again enjoyable...small improvements every month.

  • Jalfezi is always my go to for a curry with firecracker rice!! Pickle trays ,poppadoms !! Then a doggy bag to eat the rest next day!! Ha ha

Toblerone is my choice of sweet stuff ,but a jelly baby would be just as good post treatment!!

  • Hi Mark, my wife and I went out to a restaurant we couldn't normally afford to go to, a week before my treatment started. Good luck with your treatment, remember we are all here, if you need to ask any questions.

    Ray.

  • Cheers Ray ,I'm sure you will all help me and other newbies through this.

    Cheers Mark

  • Hi I had a good bike ride the week leading uo to treatment. Ate lots af double chocolate magnums and a leg or roast lamb for Sunday lunch prior to treatment starting in the Monday. I’m an odd ball I can’t tolerate any spicy food since treatment finished

. Most can tolerate some hoping you can enjoy them after treatment .I can  eat chocolate some can’t so I enjoy  that. I can do aromatics so make do with cocnunt milk based currys using turmeric and cumin. Italian is probably my favourite food now.

you can do this enjoy the weekend.

  • Hi Hazel,

    I love magnum ice creams!!

    Lamb is my favourite meat!

Hopefully I will be able to cope with curries just slightly spicier than a korma ,but if not cest la vie .

Italian I can also enjoy !!

    Thanks Mark
