Tongue has gone numb

Hi

After a tonsillectomy in July I was diagnosed with tonsillar cancer T2N1M0 SCC HPV+ in L palatine tonsil. The histology came back over a month ago.

At the time of the histology and diagnosis my tongue, lungs and oesophagus were all clear.

I am now about to start chemoradiotherapy but in the month of waiting for treatment I believe the cancer has spread - my tongue is now numb on one side.

What should I do?

Will my tongue now need to be operated on as well?

Or would the chemoradiotherapy potentially kill the cancer there too?a

Happy to receive advice or thoughts.

Best wishes

  • My tongue cancer was inoperable but radiotherapy fixed it. I’m five years clear so try to trust what your team had planned.
