  • Hi see your team in the morning they are your first port of call.
. By end of week 3 I was on 30 mg co codomol and oramorph. Mouthwash good old salt and bi carbonation soda was my oncologist recommendations.duffle eases temporarily. Use your peg if swallow becomes difficult. Remember on a Friday make sure you’ve sufficient medication.
    good luck

  • Caphosol Gelclair and Difflam mouthwashes. I was given corsodyl mouthwash to use just before bed to kill all the bacteria in my mouth and to prevent thrush. I’ve never heard anybody else given that. It hurt like hell for thirty seconds but I didn’t get thrush.
I was given cocodomol but that didn’t really work as you can only take that four times a day. Paracetamol alternated with ibuprofen every two hours worked better. By week 4 I was on morphine instead of the ibuprofen.
When my mouth and throat really started hurting I gave up oral eating and fed Fortisips overnight by pump

  • Hi Jason

For me it was slow release morphine topped up with Oramorph and Difflam, as Hazel states make sure you have plenty of pain meds for weekends and Bank holidays.
