Hi All, just wondering if anyone reassure me how common it is to have a sore throat 5 months on from finishing radiotherapy and chemo. My husband had a neck dissection 2 weeks ago too. I think he is a bit anxious that it feels quite sore alot of the time still but he is eating and drinking pretty normally now too (possibly too adventurous at times too). i think it’s still very early days and wondered if the neck dissection could have possibly made it worse. Just want to reassure him if possible please . He is due to have a phased return to work next month but he still gets pretty exhausted at the moment.
Hi. For the first couple of years after treatment I got sore throats at the drop of a hat. A change in the weather always precipitated one. Living in the U.K. you can see that was quite often. It gradually eased and I can’t remember the last time I had either a sore throat or a cold. I sailed through two doses of Covid too.

Hi Worrylo
Now 14 months post Chemoradio ...during that time I have had occasional sore throats treated with Difflam and paracetamol..par for the course...our mouths and throats took a massive battering...still very sensitive.
3 weeks ago I had a dental hospital appointment for Duraphat gum baths....impressions taken ...sore mouth/throat afterwards for about a week...the impression material had taken some skin off the roof of my mouth when it was removed, took a few days to link the soreness to the dental treatment...area is very delicate.

Hi it’s really early days He's had brutal treatment remember it all takes time. I reckon a good 9 12 months for me so try to stop worrying. He’s got the all clear only a week ago the neck dissection will have knocked him back as well. I’m 6 years and 2 nights ago I accidentally popped a padron pepper usually the are bland ouch that one wasn’t. into my mouth the scream I let out am sure you could have heard it in Australia. I’m an odd ball I have no tolerance for spice or alcohol. I’m such an odd ball I rarely get a sore throat but I did suffer from burning tongue syndrome from year 2 to 5 so we all have our own idiosyncrasies. Good luck with phased return to work. Tell him to take the return ti work with caution listen to his body.
