My mum had had this fitted 10 days ago at Leeds and still in pain, is this normal?
She has two incisions higher up from where it’s fitted, which makes me think they tried a couple of times and got the wrong place?
Anyone else had this?
These take 2/3 weeks to settle. If you are worried you should contact your mums CNS. Are the other incisions laparoscopy incisions. If they are then that right.

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
My peg insertion was painful too. But I was told it was normal and I should turn and clean it and it would be checked in 2 weeks.
When I had a 2 week check I was told it had been put in too tightly and I had to have antibiotics as it was inflamed - I believe this is a common problem - so worth getting advice from the CNS nurse or GP before the 2 week check if it's painful. - I wish I hadn't waited and had flagged it up earlier and I could have avoided the antibiotics and worry.
Someone I met in chemo said he had the same issue and once it was loosened off he used sudacrem in the sore area. I took his advice on the sudacrem and it took the soreness away very quickly.
I hope you get it sorted out quicker than I did. As once it's in and ok it's a god send - kept me alive as I couldn't even swallow water.
I kept it in 3 months after the treatment ended and I was able to eat and drink.
All the best

Hi Lucia
Had PEG tube fitted last year, cuts are made in abdominal area through to stomach so some pain will accompany the procedure....usually takes about a week to settle....I also had an infection at PEG insertion site....short course of antibiotics sorted this.
Daily PEG hygiene is very important to keep site clean and mobile....and as already mentioned keep a tub of Sudocrem handy.
Best of luck
Peter
Good evening Lucia04, i have not had an RIG fitted as mine is a PEG the difference is the way the tubes are fitted a RIG has two stitches to hold its position while a PEG also the procedure is different with the RIG is a bit more involved.I think the stitches have been known to cause this discomfort; it is quite common to get an infection. i had one soon after my PEG fitting. I must admit i never suffered any bad pain although it was fitted during my first surgery and I was on painkillers and antibiotics from day one. Contact one of your mum's team if things get worse as i know it can be very uncomfortable. I'm PEG so it's part of my daily life. Good luck to your mum, take care.
Chris
