Morning everyone
So hubby had his first week of TPF as previously stated, he was so bad withit they stopped the second week and started him on 6 wks of radiotherapy and chemo twice through 6 weeks.
This is his first week of radiotherapy had 6hrs chemo monday. Hes very unwell again.. Same issues with belly again. Hes wanting to stop treatment. I dont know what to do - do i agree or do i talk him out of it. 5 weeks left. Its horrendous to watch.. Spoken to velindra this morning - hopefully see someone today.. Advice or even ur experiance much appreciate xx
Hi again. So sorry he is having such a rough time. The belly troubles seem to echo what Debbielouise went through with her Chemo. I'm sure one was delayed and another entirely abandoned. Hopefully she will pop on with some advice. It's the chemo doing it and he won't need another for a few weeks. It's really worth going through with the radiotherapy. I really hope Debbie helps out. She was in dire straits but got through it somehow. She is slowly on the mend now.

Hi
I had the same experience and felt exactly like your husband - I didn't want to go for my 2nd chemo. I was in hospital for 4 days due to extreme sickness.
But I saw the consultant and she changed the chemo type and it was better. Not easy but better.
I went ahead as I wanted the best chance of blitzing my tumour / back of tongue.
I really feel for your husband - it's such a difficult time - but he will get through it - my latest PET scan was clear - 5 months since treatment.
Hang on in there x
Hi Cazza2190
So sorry to hear about your husbands reaction to treatment.
Sadly I had a similar journey I was hospitalised 4 times (spending 4 weeks out of 7 in Weston ParkCancer Hospital)
Had bad reaction to first Chemo 10hr overnight Cisplatin on first day started with sickness then diahorrea it was very hard for me and my husband /mother to watch)( II wouldnt let my sons visit as i didnt want them to worry)
Going to radiotherapy each day in a wheelchair or or my hospital bed with sick bowls mouthwash and tissues was torturous but somehow I managed to get through each session.
Its such a difficult decision to make when the patient is so ill but the oncologist kbows that yhe treatment is the very best option of survival.
My oncologist delayed 2bd round of chemo for three weeks ( I had same reaction) and then canceled the last one as there was no point giving it at the end of radiotherapy as its job is to enhance it!.
There are many anti sickness drugs that can be given I eventually was given a patch and levomepromazine maleate tablets which stopped the vomiting..I was constantly on a drip as dehydrated and lost over two stone very quickly.
Speak to his Oncologist as soon as possible to talk through the options … there are different chemos and antii sickness drugs and the option of stopping Chemo or all treatment.
Im glad I managed to get through it even though it has been a really hard time for me and my family.
Im 11 weeks post treatment having had a challenging time having caught Covid and also a chest infection but finally I feel im turning a corner ,had a clean scope where there was no sign of the huge tumour previously sitting on my tonsil .
Fingers crossed your husband can make it through this horrific time but I totally understand if he feels to ill and unable to carry on.
Sending you both a big hug and hopes his issues resolve soon and he feels a little better
Debbie x
