Hi Everyone.
First post here so really hoping for some advice. I saw ENT after a 2 week referral Friday. I honestly wasn't expecting anything to come of it and nearly cancelled. Dr looked in my mouth, i have a swollen right tonsil, and instantly said he was concerned. He took 3 biopsies right there, and used a camera to look up my nose/down throat. Hes sending me for MRI and CT scan and said the lump will be cut out.
Now, am i fooling myself in thinking hes just being on the safe side?. Im 42, a heavy smoker, and ive already had bladder cancer in 2015. I did quit, but started again after a family tragedy.
If it is tonsil cancer, then it is!. But only symptom has been bit of a sore throat. No lump in neck. Although the lump is quite large and kind of solid.
Im a single parent to 4, and my youngest is 6 and has severe learning dissabilities. She needs a lot of care. He Dad was killed in a hit and run last Aprill and we are still coming to terms with that. Anyway, it was the Drs obvious concern that worried me.
I keep panicking about how they would be able to 'cut it out' if need be, How on earth do they get to it ?
Robotic surgery can get to a lot of inaccessible areas. Mine wasn’t operable. Radiotherapy fixed it

PS. Good luck for the 14th. Let us know how you get on. If you have time can you put a brief resumé in your bio. It helps no end with answering queries if we know what the situation is

Hi Vic. My biopsy is over and done with. The surgeon seemed to think it was all ok but obviously i have to wait for the results . I am feeling a lot more positive than I was . I really hope that you get some good news . Keep up with the posts. As will I

Hi
I had robotic surgery twice. First time to remove both tonsil and some base of tongue. Scan showed some cancer remaining under where left tonsil had been. Second robotic surgery done, scan showed surgeon got it all with good margins. I must admit the thought of robotic surgery was scary, but it worked out fine for me

It certainly looks like a work of art worthy of The Tate
The idea that somebody in Australia could operate on a patient in London is just out of this world but hugely exciting

The wait is very hard and it’s important to reach out to friends and family and ask for specific help whilst you experience shock, dread and all the other emotions and what if’s that are racing through your mind. It’s exhausting and you have children to care for too. Give people specific requests like please can you get milk, run the hoover round, bake a cake. People will want to help but won’t know how to. And reach out here too for support!
