Hi all
A question for those who have come out the other side - so to speak.
I’m in week 8 after treatment - chemo at week 1 and 4 and 30 rounds of radiotherapy.
I am planning to go to meet friends at a pub on Dec 10th and to go to a restaurant for my nieces birthday on 19th December.
Although I’m being super careful wearing a mask and sanitising my hands - is it foolish to go to crowded places - should I leave it a while ?
I don’t want to get any infections, but I have hardly been out in 14 weeks other than for a walk or to the hospital or to pick up a prescription, so it would be nice. I have had visitors but only 1 or 2 at a time.
My sisters have been looking after me and one of them who is a natural worrier is very anxious about me going to these events.
Your advice with the gift of hindsight would be very much appreciated
thank you

Hi Rupertsmum
I can use Hazel’s hindsight.
She had two out of there chemos and seven weeks of RT and flew to Spain at 8 weeks ( mad! )
But as Ray says, check with your team. Just phone your CNS.

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
Hi yes I flew to Spain with my oncologist s blessing. We were going to our apartment and like he said as long as I was sensible it was time to live my life. If I had been going on a boozy ( lol ) trip to Benidorm no way would he let me go. Honestly it gave me the lift I needed after being cocooned inside apart from walks into our village. So my advise is check with cns or consultant but go for it.
Od I also rode my bike 22 km in 3 weeks but it was a start.

Been on some jaunts...short breaks in Scotland X2 and a 12 night break in Canary Islands, no ill effects and no special precautions.
The only thing that hurt was the travel insurance cost.
Take care
