Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else had dealings with Neck Lymphedema after mouth cancer diagnosis.
I have completed 30 sessions of Radiotherapy and have a bulge under my chin. I have been advised this is due to Lymphedema and that I will receive an appointment in due course to look further into this.
It doesn't hurt but is rather unsightly.
Does anyone know of exercises or massage techniques I could start with whilst I await to be seen by a specialist?
It might be that I just need to loose some weight
Any advice would be appreciated.
Paul
Yes I did and managed it on my own
You might as well start something while you wait. If it’s ignored it can become hard and difficult to get rid of.
This might help

Good evening Paul, thankfully even after three operations I never suffered from this, It is because the drainage channels become affected and the fluid needs to be re-routed and this is where the massages help to reduce the fluid buildup, I'm sure your weight is okay , Wishing you all the best.

I didn't know there was a referral available.
Every large hospital has a lymphodema clinic but waiting can be a problem.

Dani - many thanks for the video. It is very helpful.
Thank you Paul. If the lymphodema is uncomplicated it’s often all you need to do.

Hi daddy pig. I had lymphoedema. I saw hospital team plus went privately to a lymphoedema specialist. I am 2 years post now and has all gone , except, rather annoyingly, larger ‘bags’ under my eyes which I don’t like at all. !!!! I do use the K tape occasionally (I have been shown how) and that brings it down straight away! But usually I forget to do it!! I am hoping that it will all gradually go away. Best wishes. Lizzie x
