Hiya all,
After an anxious two-week wait, I have had good news from my first PET scan. "Complete response" and there is no evidence of disease!!
Obviously too soon to say "cured", but it is the best result that can be reported. My oncologist said that the tumour has now gone.
They want to do two ultrasounds (baseline and a check in a few months) on some of my neck lymph nodes that have not completely gone back down to normal. However, these nodes are not lighting up on the PET scan, so they are fairly confident that this is healing not persistent disease.
The oncologist said, "This is a good result, given where we were (4cm tumour, nodes on both sides etc.)" - the last bit sent a shiver through me and had me profusely thanking her, while hanging onto her hand and making serious eye contact.
The relief is huge...
Wishing good outcomes for all.
Steve
Well done Stevey
It’s a monumental milestone. Now it’s a plod to full health but Hell! Doesn’t that “complete response NED” give you a huge filip.
