Hi all back again well Ive got through the dreaded radiotherapy feeling rubbish at moment, getting the side effects of it usual sore throat mouth ulcers and raw weeping skin. I’m coping and I hope day by day I’ll start to feel better again, more treatments set out for me back at local hospital, still have my peg fitted can’t swallow too good, but I intend to eat again eventually x
to anyone who knows that they will be going through this op neck disection, be strong be positive, it’s not the best op to have I had two more after it, but it saved my life and you will get through it day by day x
Hi Tiadora
So glad to see you through to the other side. It’s pants, isn’t it but we get there.
You sound as if you have your head screwed on so I’m sure you’ll be fine. Yes, a few hiccups on the way but by Christmas you’ll be feeling much better. You might even manage some Christmas dinner. Hugs

Thanks for this lovely update Tiadora, its always good to hear about peoples progress, the neck dissection is not the best operation and is a slow healer but you will see a vast improvement a notice how well the scar will heal and in time you will hardly notice it, i only notice mine because I know its there, they are very clever in following the creases in the skin when doing the dissection helping it blend together. When you are allowed use oil in the area. i used bio oil but i expect there are a lot more to choose from nowadays. Wishing you all the best for your recovery, take care.

Hi Tiadora
So glad to hear that you have completed the radiotherapy. The recovery can take a while but with your determination and positive attitude you will be out on the other side in no time. Eating can be a bit different after radiotherapy and an op for jaw cancer but I found that I can still find food that is tasty, I just have to mush it down. It is just another challenge but one that can be overcome. Your speech pathologist and dietician will be able to give you lots of good ideas when you get to that stage.
Best wishes for your continued recovery
Lyn
