Hi all,
I had my first post-treatment scan, yesterday. I was expecting to have a meeting next Friday with my oncologist
Just been told that it has been pushed back another week.
I just wanted to say this out loud to a group of people who will understand my scanxiety!
By the way, the scan itself was fine. I fell asleep twice

It sucks. Not enough staff to interpret the scans.
Whole system needs a huge shake up, never mind masses of money thrown at it.
Remember failure this early is practically unheard of. Fingers crossed.

I had my PET scan on 21st Aug which had been delayed a week due to scanner breaking. Waited for an appt till 4th Sept & then I rang & was told secretary would pass it to oncologist. Oncologist phoned me on the evening of 5th Sept saying she’d been on hols & not to worry my scan showed no evidence of disease. A 30 sec call & I’ve heard nothing since. Although I’m relieved there are still loads of things I want to ask, as well as seeing the scans myself. I do think the aftercare so far has been terrible considering what we go through. You’re so so right the anxiety is off the chart. Hope you get news soon.

as well as seeing the scans myself
I’m trained to look At scans but the PET had me floored. Every single part of the body that is metabolising glucose quickly shows up as a hot spot. Brain/muscles including some in your throat when you swallow) heart/liver/ kidneys. How they make head or tail of it I don’t know. Must take years of experience. No wonder AI is better at some of it.
When is your next review? Just make a list if your questions for then and try not to fret too much. Your consultant has at least given you the news you needed to hear.

Good evening Steve, well done it having the scan done, i never mind having them done but i can see why people get anxious over them, i know there are delays in some areas due to lack of staff, strikes, and of course, COVID, love the falling asleep part it put a smile on my face, Wishing you all the best for next week, take care.
