Travel insurance?

I finished 6 weeks of chemo radiation on 12th May. I just received a call from my oncologist to say my PET scan showed no evidence of disease. I want to book a holiday but am afraid that travel insurance will be denied. Has anyone any experience of travelling after treatment etc & which insurance company is best to go with? Thanks in advance. Maureen

  • Hi Maureen. Lots of people use Staysure. They should Insure you so give them a ring.

  • Hi Maureen. I called Staysure for a quote and my circumstances were same treatment and recovery as you, but back in January. They would insure me but it would be £600. They said to call a specialist Cancer insurance company to see if they could lower the cost? Sorry but I can’t remember what they were called but you could Google? Good luck.

  • Wow, that’s very steep, I was thinking around the £100 mark but not £600. Might have to forget about a hol.

  • Hi, I went last month to Portugal used insure.with

family gold insure cost £170. I’m roughly similar timeline as yourself.

  • I highly recommend

    https://www.insurancewith.com

cover for £45 for a week in Greece following treatment for stage 2 tonsil cancer (7 weeks radiotherapy and 7 rounds of chemo) treatment ended 2nd June 2023

  • Yup that’s the exact one I meant.

  • Hi Brian , Wow that's not bad and my partner has just finished rt and we want to go away next year and was worried about how much the insurance would cost as had to cancel holiday because he was going in for surgery and claim so sure that will bump our premium up but will defo take a look at these thank you Slight smile

  • Wish I’d put the question up before I left for my holiday! Will check these guys next time. Thanks

  • Hi. I use insurewith - always seem reasonable price

  • Hi

I hope you don't mind me replying, as I'm not a member of this group, but the title of your post caught my eye.

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find reasonably priced travel insurance when you've had a cancer diagnosis so you might want to pop over to the travel insurance group where you'll find recommendations from others who have been successful. Once you've joined look for the thread called 'recommended travel insurance' as this is where the majority of recommendations are.

Most people say that it's best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also, sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.

I hope this helps and you have a lovely holiday
