Day 3 of radiotherapy and all okm my face feels burnt today and I thought this was too soon listening to nurse. I had my first chemo yesterday, 9 hours. Nausea and dizziness started yesterday but I'm being sick and have hiccups all day so far. I can't even sip water. Been told to take a laxative as this will cure the sickness. I'm not sure this is the case but has anyone had this happen to them?
Also the burning already on my face and neck. I use Aveeno to wash with and moisturize with plus E45 . I remember reading aloe Vera on here. Thanks so much for your help
Hi. I can’t help with chemo as I avoided that.
Somebody here posted that sucking ice chips help with hiccups. If the anti sickness isn’t working tell your radiographers. They can arrange a something else. We all seem to be sensibly started on the cheapest ones but there are lots of others and one will suit.
I used Aloe Vera on my neck in the car on the way home and didn’t burn.
I was given Diprobase to moisturise but I found that too greasy so used Cetraben.
E45 contains alcohol so if irritates you ask your RT team for something else
Good luck.

Aveeno to wash with
I found a mild unscented shower gel was perfectly ok.

I hope you get some help tonight. Maybe ask if you can start the anti sickness drugs before chemo next time?
I have no idea how a laxative can help. It’s a new one on me. Chemo can make you constipated that’s for sure.
I had laxido for my opiate constipation and that worked very well.

This is horrible and only day 3 out of 35
PS
It’s the chemo and should wear off. How often are you having it? Weekly or two weekly?

Hi I had cisplatin chemo I used simple un scented shower gels and soaps throughout. As fir chemo hiccups tell your team we are has Dani says started off in the cheapest anti sickness medication you may need tko have yours changed. Yes I was daily taking laxido ir movicol to prevent constipation most of us are given it. Af constipation is a major side effect if not monitored.
do not put anything on neck or face prior to treatment use it afterwards. Same applies to make up and lipstick onky use natural lip balms.

Hi Dani
I went to a&e had clouds and anti sickness drugs. Still feel rubbish but not been sick this morning. I have anti sickness pills to take this morning.
My next chemo is 19 days then again in 21 days.
My face is so red from radiotherapy and my lips are so dry. I must be doing something wrong.

Thanks hazel
That's what I've done. I've used Aveeno cream on my face prior to streatment.
I'm seeing the team today hopefully as this is not good. I had cisplantin too. I can't eat anything at all so worried about loosing weight already.

Ni you’re not. We are all different and some people react badly. You’re in good hands with your team. Just tell them. If the chemo gets too bad they might suggest you stop it. Lots if people don’t get the full dose. It’s the radiation that does the job. My oncologist tells me that chemo ups the cure rate by a little over 6%. Best of luck and tell us how you get on today.

Hi Warrior,
Sorry to hear you are having a hard time with the chemo. I had a LOT of sickness meds, including meds before the chemo started, i would look at getting them changed (i am afraid i cant remember the name of my meds now)
I do remember that i was feeling quite poorly before my last chemo and my consultant suggested i skip the last one, he said the same as Dani, that its the radio that does the job, and said that missing 1 chemo would affect my chances by 'less than 1 percent'
