RIG Tube

That's great Cat so happy for you. I only had an NG tube in for 2 weeks after my recent reconstructive surgery and it was such a pain trying to shower, trying to make sure that I didn't accidentally pull it out although there was a stitch in my nose  to keep it in place. When I went out I used to wear a mask as it was rather unsightly. It just seemed to slow me down. I'm so glad you have got your face back at last, it's great isn't it. .Do hope the RIG settles down really quickly. Have a great sleep tonight, nothing like your own bed.

Thank you  Sofie, I had my NG for four months, and as you say can be a right pain and annoying when people stared, but i could give a good look back !!

But it's kept me alive, so im not complaining. Feels weird it not being there !!

Brilliant Cat, it should settle down in a few days , enjoy sleeping in your own bed, take care, and all the best with the PEG.

You've been waiting a while for that, Cat. Glad it's done.

Having spent one New Year in hospital you have my utter sympathy.......

 Since having my RIG my stomach feels bloated most of the time. It obviously it doesn't help with all the flushing, but in saying that, i not flushing it any more than i did when i had my NG. 

My stomach feels like a little balloon !! Will it settle eventually ?

Hi Cat from what others have said can take up to a week. There’s a medication buscopan that’s soppsed to help try gp xxHazel

That sounds a bit distressing but from what I have read on this forum over time it seems this often happens for a short while but settles down. It is all about getting used to something new. Every time I have an op, and I have had a few now,  I have to get used to a new way of eating and then I have a few days of doubt thinking that it was better the way it was before and doubting whether it will improve but it always does. It is just the the transition period of getting used to a new way of managing things. Hang in there as the experience of others indicate that it works out fine in the end.

That's reassuring !  i should imagine it will help a little more when the stitches go as well.

I feel, look and waddle around like a full term pregant women, especially in the mornings after my feed 

I am already really pleased with it, despite, as you say the temporary discomfort, it's so much better than the NG Tube. And i know i keep saying it, but it's so nice to have my face back !
