I’ve had 6 radio & 1 chemo so far & today is worst day ever feeling sick, wretching & just feeling like I can’t do anything. Have to go for another radio in an hours time & just don’t know how I’ll be able to manage the mask with feeling so sick. Any advice?
Hi. Tell your radiographers the anti sickness med isn’t working. There will be something to suit. They tend to start us off in the cheapest ones.
And tell them how you are feeling. They are usually pretty good at getting folk through a crisis, gently and safely.
Best wishes. Xx

The sickness can be wretched, do you have a feeding tube you can use to keep your calories going? As Dani said, tell the radiographers , I was on a “sick list” so I never had to wait, I would go straight in, and they would be alert if I needed to stop. It was strange because my body held off from being sick during the radiotherapy , it does eventually pass. Debbie x
Hi Mmac, the nausea is horrible I know, like the others have said, tell your team, they will try you on a different kind hopefully. You will be able to manage. My ENT consultant told me we have to make people very ill to make them better, so when I felt really ill and down, I bore that in mind, that it is a means to an end. If you are offered a feeding tube, I would advise you to have it, you can use it for meds water and feeds.Mine was a lifesaver. You will be able to do it. Any questions just ask on here, we will help you along the way.
Regards Ray.
I initially refused the feeding tube , I can understand your reluctance, it wasn’t pleasant but it saved my life. I was too sick to eat and lost 3 stone. The PEG kept me going. Just take a day at a time and talk to your team, let them know how you are feeling. Anti sickness meds can be changed and increased as can pain relief take a day at a time, even an hour at a time. It will pass and it does get better. Debbie x
Hi Has others have said tell your team we are all started on the same basic medications. I had a friend took her 8 trys before they found a suitable tablets to keep nausea at bay there will be something that can help. Hope you get sorted treatment’s brutal but worth it at the end.
You can do it I did and I’m a self confessed wimp. The feeding tubes are there for a reason mine was a lifesaver.

Hi you’re in the best place for now. Have they mentioned feeding tube yet ?Please don’t dismiss it.
Hope you get some sleep.

They’ve just said it will prob be an option further down the line. I think by this stage I’d say yes to anything, lol.
