Hi all,
I have just finished my first week of radiotherapy, with one session of chemo on Tuesday.
Is it common to feel so exhausted during the first week? I had hoped that the radiotherapy side effects would only kick in about week three.
Maybe it is 'chemo brain' and it will start to wear off in a few days? I am struggling to do simple tasks (such as typing!), my limbs feel weak and heavy and my short-term memory is all over the place.
The steroids given with chemo (both on the day and for three days after) have made me feel quite anxious (I also have an anxiety disorder).
Best wishes to all.

Hi Steve. Yes what you’re feeling is par for the course so don’t worry. The radiotherapy will make you tired. I didn’t get any throat irritation till the end of the second week but I was tired.
Steroids will keep you awake too but you have to take them. How’s the sickness? Some folk avoid it but I would still take the antiemetics
Keep going. It’s worth it and it will over in a flash … a day at a time

Hi Steve. Just listen to your body take every thin one day at a time. I was start if week 2 when I noticed tiredness creeping in. The steroids will wear off you’ll possibly get a steroid slump. Then depending if yiure weekly chemo ir like me ever5 3 weeks. Take the anti sickness meds as well. You’ll be through treatment before yiu know it , I ticked the days off one day at a time.
