Hi Lyn ,I have just read your cancer journey, you certainly have been through the mill, yet your posts are always positive and very helpful to anyone who needs help, even while recovering from an operation you have still found the strength and time to help other members. You are a true fighter! and an inspiration on this forum. It's great that you made a trip to the UK, I live very close to St. Michaels Mount, so I will give it a nod from you, each time I pass it. Hope your recovery from your last op goes well. You really are one hell of a lady.
Could not agree more. Following this post, I read your journey too - truly remarkable and one iron lady you are :) All the best for your operation and just reading it gives me so much strength, Im only 40 and constantly worrying. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery from the op and wishing you many more years with your grandchildren and many more lovely holidays.
Ray you are spot on. Lyn is a marvel and an example to all of us. Thanks for posting this
She is home now , resting and recuperating.

Hi OldBiker
Thanks so much for your kind words I really appreciate them. The encouragement I get from this forum has helped me so much.
Wow fancy you living near St. Michael’s Mount. Love the picture. I just love that place, so much history and such beautiful countryside. I am so glad my husband Terry and I did the trip when we did. We don’t have anything like it in Australia.
I had my checkup at the Dental Hospital today after my reconstructive surgery last week and that went really well. I have found out that I am a bit of a guinea pig as the type of bilateral maxillary reconstruction using a prosthesis that teeth attach to is a first in Australia. I wondered why the surgeon was a bit evasive when I was asking him questions about the procedure. He kept saying things like ‘we’ll have to wait and see’, and ‘ I can’t tell you exactly how things will proceed’.
Now I know it is because he had never done the surgery before. He was all smiles today saying he was very happy with how things had gone. He wasn’t the only one present during the surgery as 2 other surgeons did different parts of the op also. What a wonderful team. I couldn’t ask for better.
I just have to spend time getting used to all these teeth in my mouth after a year of being tooth free except for those on one side of my bottom jaw. Still getting the hang of talking with the prosthesis in as some sounds just aren’t quite right but practice makes perfect and it is certainly improving.
It’s going to take a while as I am currently still on a nasogastric tube and then will have to sort out the eating issue but have an excellent dietician working with me.
I see that your journey has been a long one too and would like to wish you all the best.
Sending you my warmest wishes
Lyn

Hi Heinze
Thanks so much for your encouragement. Doesn't matter how long any of us have been on this journey a few positive words make such a difference. I have been on this path for a while now so have had longer than you to adjust to my altered circumstances. It takes time but you get there. Try not to worry leave that to your medical team. Get out there and enjoy every day.
Lyn
