Hi all,
Has anyone else been referred to Onkohealth by their NHS care team?
I am wondering if it is worth doing...
At the moment (start of treatment) it just feels like another commitment to keep track of.
Thanks
Steve
Hi Steve. I haven’t but I can say they are a Prehab organisation and prehab can be exceedingly valuable in preparing you and getting you through cancer treatment. Personally I wouldn’t have bothered but there’s no harm in trying it out? If you do please let us know how you get on.

PS. I did get quite a bit of psychological preparation for treatment from Macmillan nurses who saw me a few times after diagnosis but before treatment and every week throughout. They weren’t part of my CNS team… quite separate. I guess that was a type of prehab. I never ran into much trouble I couldn’t handle but in retrospect I think they would have picked me up if I had fallen.

Hi Steve. I had good support from my Trust (who are not one of the Trusts using Onkohealth), both physical and mental support. This was outside of my direct team. Although in the depths of covid so much was telephone based I found the prehab exercises very good for getting physically prepared for treatment and the regular calls to check on me comforting. If this is a similar process I would go for it.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
