I am 4 months post radio/chemo for throat cancer. Most of the side effects have gone, but I still have a dry mouth with a slightly soapy taste and feel. Does this disappear with time, and is there anything I can do to accelerate the recovery. I’ve read about people using acupuncture??
Hi Dickie unfortunately the dry mouth does tend to linger on for quite a while, it will get much better with time, you will just have to make sure, you have water with you all the time. Some people on here have had acupuncture, hopefully they will come on with some advice, about it. All the best.
Regards Ray.
Hi dickie. Ray is right. I think for most of us it's a lifelong thing to some extent though it does improve. I'm four years on and still have a dry m mouth at night. I use a xylimelt tucked into my cheek which slowly dissolves through the night to keep my mouth moist. Chewing sugar free gum gets the surviving salivary glands going and stimulates the remains of the others. There is an acupuncture protocol called Auricular Acupuncture that helped me. I have two posts in my blog ONE and TWO Just click on the red links.
