Had the surgery January 24th that is in my previous post, and now today had the results from the removed pallete and lymph nodes. There was no spread to the lymph nodes and the treatment is still curative.
I have 6 weeks of radiotherapy, Monday to Friday and 2 chemotherapy. 1 at start and 1 at the end.
I absolutely am grateful that I am cancer free and will remain that way.

looking to start my next treatment in 3-4 weeks.
I will be fitted with a feeding tube directly into my stomach as well. Am so glad that it’s not an ng tube. That was an awful experience.

how ever I do feel like I am becoming depressed or am already depressed.

  • Hi Tomatoes. This  depressed feeling hits all of us. I was a little down till I got my treatment plan in place and I was ok during treatment. I had those six weeks to get through. I felt pretty rubbish mentally for a couple of months afterwards. It’s a form of PTSD after all. Going through side effects and signing the consent form my oncologist told me the cancer would take a year out of my life but he would cure me. It did and he did. I had nothing to fight. That was the job of my team but I did have to stay sane. That was hard at times but the light is there at the end of the tunnel.
Stay busy, get out into the fresh air even if it’s for a few minutes if you feel bad. Take your pain killers by the clock. Don’t be brave, tell your radiographers if you aren’t well.

  • Hi Tomatoes12

That is great news that all the cancer has been removed. You just need to get through the next stage of radiotherapy and chemo. Come back on the forum as questions arise when you start having this treatment. It can be tough but you will get there. In a years time you will look back and it will be ancient history.

    Sending hugs'

  • I'm on a  very similar journey to you with my right palate, operation the week before you. Luckily for me I had no radiotherapy. I had an infection that has mainly gone and now just numbness and paralysis and the haul of getting better. Nice to hear someone going through the same thing and posting is a good way to let off steam. Wishing you all the best for treatment and take heart so many people seem to have gone through this difficult journey and have come out to a positive happy life. All best wishes.
