My husband has been told that the squamous cell cancer is back. Two large lumps on his neck below his ear. He has had to fight two times before with extreme surgery and chemo radio treatment both times. His consultant has said no more.
Does anyone have a similar experience and if so what if any treatment was offered?
Desperately worried wife
Thank you
Hi labradoodlemum. So sorry to hear your news. We have people here on immunotherapy trials. They may pop on. It’s worth asking your husband’s consultant whether he is eligible for any. Some immunotherapy is producing encouraging results. Where in the country are you?

Hi thanks for yr reply. This is the first time I have used the forum to message so apologies if I make a few blunders.
I will definitely let my husband know and when we get our next consultation will ask the questions.
I’m in Lincolnshire very remote but beautiful spot on the marshes
Which hospital is he at?
Heavens. Don’t apologise. It’s not the easiest site to navigate. I just hope somebody else comes on for you. I’ll look for some thread links that may help.

If you put immunotherapy in the search st the top of the page and choose head and neck cancer it will bring a lot of threads up. If you go to advanced search at the bottom you can chose the most recent posts.

Good evening Labradoodlemum, great advice from Dani and Hazel, i cannot suggest any other options, thankfully they manage to stop the spread of cancer when i had my third operation. My last procedure was in 2010 so technology and treatments have moved on quite a bit so hopefully there is an option for your husband. All the best.

hi Labradoodlemum . Tell your husband he is not the only one in this boat. This is what my consultant said to me and my response was well keep them in the boat. I have been treated for base of tongue cancer that spread to both sides of my head. I had chemo and radio with the last treatment on 28/1/21. I have since recovered and got the all clear until about 12 weeks ago when someone ran into the back of my van. My neck did not feel right and I saw surgeon who told me I needed surgery straight away with a salvage neck dissection. They removed everything they could taking all the spares from my leg. Surgeon said it was a complete mess and they could not take it all out as its deep in one place and there's another place also. He said if it reoccurs there is one or two things they can do so there is still light at the end of the tunnel. He did say it won't cure but keep at bay. So this is where I am at and due to see surgeon and consultant in a months time. Hope this helps your husband
