Good afternoon.
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
I finished treatment on 9th April, had the all clear 1st August, had lots of check ups and still all clear. What a difference a year makes.
Have any of you had any problems with your hearing after treatment?
My right ear, is really bad, it is constantly muffled and feels like i am under water, makes me feel off balance and nauseous,. It first statted in September when i woke up in the morning and gradually got better throughout the day, had it again in october for a couple of days. It has now come back even worse, it has been like it since Thursday, and is not going away.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Tracey
Hi Tracy. Personally I have tinnitus but that’s nothing to do with treatment. I must say your problem sounds like fluid in your ear, looking at some previous posts.
Put Grommets. In the search at the top. There are a few similar stories. Let us know how you get on.

Hiya.
Thanks for your reply.
It doesn't feel like fluid in my ear, and I never had this problem before treatment. I have had lots of experience with grommets lol, as my toungest has had them 3 times.
I am seeing my consultant in January so I am going to ask gim to have a look, as he is the ENT surgeon.
Best wishes

Hello
I have a muffled ear after my radiotherapy treatment was stronger on that side, but it's more of a muffled experience/slight hearing loss rather than nausea etc. However, I did suddenly randomly suffer from Positional Vertigo before I was diagnosed (not suffered in 63 years) and it was horrific. Cured within 2 weeks by Epley Manouuvre. That might be worth considering as a co-incedental situation and might not be connected to treatment. Worth an ask perhaps. Good luck Tricia
Hi Zackaroo
I had hearing loss in my left ear after my op which was a left maxillectomy. It was fluid not draining so my surgeon put a grommet in and it cleared it up. I had the grommet in for a year. It didn’t drop out so my surgeon took it out in his surgery. I have had no issues since.
He did get me to go to an audiologist as well just to check on things.
I’m sure that your consultant can sort it out for you.

Hi Tracy. I had fluid in my ears after treatment. I was told it was because everything is swollen and things can’t drain properly. I was deaf as a post for around 4/5 months. Then one ear cleared followed soonish by the other one. It’s been fine since. All the best Lizzie.
Hi Tracey
My treatment finished roughly about same time as yours
Have had problems with my ears simular to you very muffled and especially when im driving its doing my head in.
They tested my ears at the hosp and they said was to do with my age but never had this prob before consultant said it to do with radio and will clear up but hearing not good on times have been thinking of getting somebody else to look at them its so frustrating.
Good Luck let me know if you get any success
Chris
