Hi, just wanted to take a minute and thank you guys for support etc last few weeks.
I was admitted into the hospital about 2 weeks ago now, I guess and stayed for a week so they could adjust things to enable me to keep food down. Prior to this I was having trouble keeping anything in my stomach.
So they adjusted meds etc, anti-sickness and pain meds to be precisely combined with food intake and then did 2nd round of chemo with anti-sickness adjustments mixed in there. Been home a week now and travelling down doing the radio as out patient which has been nice. 10 sessions left to go and 16 days I think to do them in. My last appointment is January 10th.
So it’s Christmas Eve, I’ve wrapped presents and went for a little walk with my daughter and slept a good bit. It’s been nice and quiet and things are ok. Lots of thoughts going through my head and I’m not quite sure what to do with myself seeing as eating is no longer desirable. (Typically on Christmas Eve I’d be cooking and prepping and baking and eating and now — well food just isn’t appealing any more. I’ll make up the ham tomorrow for my daughter and have my ensure drink at some point with her. And I’ve peanut brittle to make for gifts but then what???).
So I’m a little bit lost haha. But home and happy and wanted to thank you guys for responding last week etc and to wish you all a very merry Christmas.
Ruth.
Hi Ruth. Well done. Next Christmas will be a blast. You’re not really writing this one off but adjusting. I was into my second week four christmases ago. My husband cooked lunch. I had a bit then chilled out, sleeping and reading. For six months I couldn’t care whether I ate or not. I just did it. The following Christmas I cooked lunch and had a glass of wine with it.
You’ll get there xx hugs, merry Christmas and a best new year

Thanks for this update Ruth, so pleased they have managed to get everything sorted, i would take this period to relax and rest as much as possible, this time next year you will be back to your normal self . All my operations and treatment were around Christmas time but i still enjoyed them as much as possible. Merry Christmas and New Year, take care.
