That's a catching heading eh! A quick update to say thank you to everyone for your advice. I am now on stronger sickness medication and although the phlegm is the same it is not making me nauseous as previously so I feel so much better. These small changes make such a difference. My next advice request is around ulcers...I have a couple on my tongue and again would welcome any advice from the team as to how to deal with them. Also I am 5 weeks through treatment today, I can't believe how fast it has gone to be honest. As always many thanks for your time and wise advice Karen xxx
Hi Karen well done weekb5. Ask for gelclair ti be prescribed it’s expensive to buy it may sting a bit but it’s formulated for radiation induced ulcers. Yiu can also dilute it and swish round. Don’t try over the counter meds as they may blow your head off !!! Too strong just now.
Gargle with salt water and baking powder 1 litre water 1 teaspoons salt 1/2 baking powder

Brilliant Karen. You're nearly there
Ulcers. Yes gelclair diluted as a mouthwash.
Difflam you probably have
I had Caphosol but I think it works best started right at the beginning.
Oxetacaine has local anaesthetic in it which might help
RT ulcers are not like ordinary ulcers. They won't heal for a a good few weeks. I still had them 12 weeks post treatment. All you can do for now is to manage the pain and keep your mouth clean.
If you are on oramorph you can swish that around ten minutes before you try eating.
Best of luck.....one week to go

I know Dani I can't believe it myself...I feel I can see the finish line....it's a way off on the horizon but I can see it in the distance. Thank you for the information...I feel more prepared now knowing what to expect and what to ask for. Have a good weekend Dani. Karen xxx
Hi Lindyloo thanks for the info...I will ask about them when I go tomorrow. It seems I always have to ask they are not particularly forthcoming with suggestions. I don't know what I would have done without this group to prompt me to ask for things. Last week they were a bit uninclined to give me new medication, I had to be quite assertive. It is the last thing you need when you are feeling so low to start with. Had a bad night coughing last night and so my throat felt like it was on fire...but settled down after a couple of hours. I hope you are keeping ok? Again many thanks and best wishes Karen
