Hi all im 57 years old a single mum of 2 boys 24 and 20 still at home. and since January I was treated for a benign cyst in my jaw. It was removed 5 weeks ago and I was informed 2 weeks ago it was malignant. I've had CT Scans and an MRI. I have an ultra sound on my neck on 11th November. All I assume for histology?
In the meantime I'm at home ( I usually work full time away from home in construction) with a numb lead weight in my chin and a swelling under my tongue . I still have stitches and basically no lower gum. I am in such discomfort and of course apprehensive as to whether this is a primary cancer and whether it has spread.
I feel so alone putting on a brave face.
Hi Kate
So sorry to hear about this, i was also misdiagnosed but only for a few weeks- it did spread to my neck during this time but they still got rid of it all.
I imagine the MRI was a local area scan and the CT scan was a wider body scan? i will cross everything that the results show the malignancy stayed local.
I dont know much about this type of cancer - others on the site will do. Everyone here has been through cancer however so you are definitely not alone on here, please ask any questions you have.

So sorry to see you here Kate. As Trev says the MRI will be to see the extent, if any, of the tumour and the CT to see if it’s spread anywhere else. Do you have a histology report so far?
Waiting is awful and all you can do is keep busy.
Give your CNS a ring if your pain isn’t under control. You shouldn’t be left in pain.
Best wishes and stay with us. Hugs.

Thanks Dani. Keep busy I will. Its not pain its pressure. A numb pressure like a weight in my chin. Uncomfortable. My lips tingle and sting. I assume its the expected nerve damage from the op alongside the malignant cyst still being there.
I'll stay with you guys thank you for the support and company...... Priceless.
Kate just stick with it. Once you have a plan in place it’s easier. You have something to focus on rather than imagining all the horrors under the sun. My advice, for now, is to stay away from Dr Google. Modern science, oncology and surgery can achieve wonders and they usually do. More hugs xx
