Hi everyone, I'm due to have radiotherapy abd chemo within the next week and a peg on Thurs, I've been diagnosed for the 2nd time with ssc in lymph node with an unknown primary, in the last few days the reactive lymph node has pretty much disappeared even though 2 weeks ago it was a 3cm hard lump which was biopsies as cancerous, I'm confused how can this hard lump just disappear has anyone else has this ?
Hi nana66
I really don’t know, mine only went after dissection in my neck. Hopefully someone on here might be able to shed some light on it. Perhaps ask your cancer care team, they might know. It does seem odd, but could be an explanation for it. Hope you get some answers
Good evening Nana66, having lumps appear then disappear for no reason is quite common maybe its worth informing your team for further tests or x-rays so they can see what is happening. It sure does sound confusing tho. All the best.

Been to hospital today and told them about my disappearing lump, they had a poke around and said its still there but much smaller and this probably means my immune system is working well and I may have even had infection in the lump that has now gone, so no miracle and I'll plod on with the radiotherapy and chemo (not that I thought the cancer had disappeared it was just a dream or hope) . Funny how we cling on to little things good or bad.
Hi We do indeed you’ll get there we’re all here to help offer advise or just to listen.
When are you starting?

I'm starting on the 7th, everything is in place now, well almost I'm having my peg tomorrow a little shocked they do it while awake though, had my mask fitted today almost went into a panic attack but got it done, I didn't realise how much had to be done before treatment but I can't wait for it to start to begin to move forward, it's really inspiring reading everyone's stories x
Hi it’s a tried and trusted route. Tell your team any issues they are your first port if call. The mask is a vital piece of the jigsaw I strangely enough spoke to mine every session gave her a name and brought her home with me. aTake everything one day at a time

Thanks for the update Nana, im not sure nowadays how a PEG is fitted as mine was fitted during my first operation so i knew nothing about it, you will be sedated though so it should not be uncomfortable. I did not mind having my mask made as it felt like a warm towel on my face but quite a few find it uncomfortable. Good luck for tomorrow and the start of your treatment on the 7th. Take care.
