“Hi I was wondering if going to the gymn treadmill, light weights, arms and legs is possible with chemotherapy and radiotherapy during treatment.

I was advised not to put strain on my neck. I walk with my pooch but feel so much better mentally and physically after a 45 min nothing heavy gym visit.

  • Hu all 6ou can do is try. I used my bike trainer at hime for first few weeks after that I was busy with it her stuff ! But I did always do a small walk every day not matter how I felt. Listen to your body it will tell you.
once in recovery I was back on bike 8 weeks after albeit smaller rides than before.

  • Go for it!  Providing you are sensible and listen to your body exercise can do nothing but good both physically and mentally.

  • Good evening Billbails, great advice from the others, your body will soon tell you if you overdo things, definitely agree with not straining the neck i.e sit ups, pull ups or pull things. I had a phase where I was too weak to do anything strenuous so just got plenty of rest and afternoon naps. Keep up the good work, take care.

  • For what it’s worth, I kept running and cycling up until my second week of chemoradiation. Then I felt my body was telling me to stop. After that I did up to an hour’s walking every day, even though I sometimes didn’t feel like it. I’ve no doubt that the exercise helped my recovery.  All the best for your treatment Thumbsup
