I am now in the middle of week being in hospital after having my larynx removed and a stoma an prosthesis installed. It's all going well so far, and hopefully I may be speaking again next week. Cannot fault the support I have been receiving from the Macmillan Staff and the hospital Staff. You have to be positive in my situation, and realise that you are not the first going through this. Tommo
Morning Tommo. Glad you are pulling through this and getting looked after. My first husband had a laryngectomy years ago and made a brilliant recovery. Hope yours is too.

Hi MikeO. Yes had one last week only 7 days after the operation and it showed a tiny leak out of the skin which could not be seen with naked eye. Next test due next Monday. Tommo
Good luck with it, my failure was somewhat more serious, so I ended up tube fed for five months; hope you avoid a similar fate, sure you will.

Thanks for this positive up-date Tommo, its a big operation to recover from both mentally and physically, like you i have always found the hospital staff very good and understanding like dieticians, speech and language therapists. Hope all goes well with the speech valve and swallow test. All the best.
