Had my chemo on Thursday afternoon and felt fine until yesterday evening
The nausea and tiredness are just overwhelming! On ondansetron and maxolon and prednisolone for 5 days.
This is definitely the worst I’ve felt so far. Feeling so fed up today
Hi Khyris it’s will pass one day at a time. Keep on top of medication if anti sickness don’t work on Monday ask them to change them there’s lots to try.
The heat won’t be helping you just stay cool and try to chill out I found rubbish box sets helped me we watched entire game of thrones plus hundreds of master chef programmes. Yes cruel especially when I couldn’t eat !

Thanks Hazel, I think the dreaded stringy saliva has kicked in as well, it’s only week one, what’s going on?! I’ve used the search engine on here to try and get some tips but it’s literally a navigational nightmare. You read one thread, try to get back to the list and it’s gone. And you have to start over again. Hardly ideal when you’re already feeling rotten. Anyway, back to my question. What’s the number one tip for dealing with this horrid saliva please?
Hi It can happen at anytime. I had humidifier for bedroom cat night and a nebuliser during day I used up to 6 times a day. You can try steaming over a bowl of hot water with towel over head. Lots of tissues to spit in I resorted to the not pleasant task of pulling it out with my fingers as well.
I was around day 10 when mine started.
Try fly Diet Coke or flat dry ginger or soda water to try to break it up sometimes it works. Sadly there’s no magic tablet. I did get prescribed carbusistine but that was weeks down the line to try and thin it but to be honest can’t say it helped.
The heat won’t be helping you unfortunately aim for a minimum of 2-3 litres of water every day. Do you have a peg or rig fitted ? If you have swallow issues use it. If not you may need a n g tube fitting if you can’t swallow sooner rather than later.
Sorry can’t help more
ps don’t put any oils in any of the steamers or humidifier

Hi Khrys, i rarely pop on here now, mainly because cancer has no impact on my life anymore- i live a normal life now
The stringy choking, salty saliva is something i remember very well indeed- for me steam helped a bit
The main thing is, this will pass- and life will get back to normal again

The only point i was trying to make is that as bad as it ever seems during treatment, it really will become a distant memory at some point
The only side effect i have now is that if i have really thick bread i need some sort of sauce with it, hardly the end of the world
Good luck, the only tip i would give anyone is if the pain seems bad at any point do NOT be afraid to ask for more effective pain relief, i struggled on for ages on just codeine, when i moved to morphine it was much easier.

Hey hazel, glad you are doing well! and yes, do you remember my first post where i was considering refusing treatment because it had spread and i thought it was hopeless? :)
That is a great motto btw, and i totally agree with!

Us ladies can compare it to childbirth. Pain long gone and a good life the reward
