Hi everyone i feel a bit more human today , not so tired or warn out hopefully it’s the chemo easing off .What mouthwash would you suggest ? My mouth is nowhere as sore as it was before treatment & it’s just sore on soft pallet & at the front on my gums , I haven’t really eaten much since Monday & have lost 5lb in a couple of days & I can’t afford too .I just need a mouthwash to maybe soothe my mouth before trying to eat & keep those sores at bay . Any suggestions would be great thank you xx
Hi Aly I used bioxtra gentle and soft still use it today. You can dilute it if too strong on prescription. My hospital gave our saline solution ti rinse mouth out 1 teaspoon salt ti 1 litre water rinse and spit. If you can manage 1/2teaspoon of baking powder.
Are you seeing dietician s as mine were on to me constantly not to loose weight so be aware.
can you manage eggs poached eggs slip down and a few soon add extra calories. Double cream in soups as well.

I spoke to the dietitian today , she’s going to send me out some milkshake things , yes hopefully now I have my appetite back JUST DRANK CHICKEN SOUP ! I will carry on eating as much as I can until I can . I have got the pink little tablet they give you before treatment starts but I thought that was just to clean your mouth ? I think taking my pain meds just before eating has helped tonight xx
Good keep doing what you can. Yes if you can time meds before food it can help.just keep doing things day by day don’t look too far in advance. Befire you know it the end of treatment is in sight.

Hi Aly, i agree with Hazel about the Biotene mouthwash, in fact, most of their products are very gentle but not sure if you can get them on prescription always worth asking. Having soups is a very good idea as its easy to swallow and you can add cream. Also, some dairy desserts are very high in calories also the food supplement drinks will do you the power of good Don't use strong mouthwash as it will make the mouth worse. Best wishes.
