Has anyone on Cisplatin had deep aches in arms? It is a job to tell whether my bones are actually aching or muscles and is very uncomfortable!
thanks

  • Good evening Clare1975, im sorry i cannot help with this issue, i had 3 doses of Cisplatin and did not have any side effects that i can remember, even my hair stayed in place. I was also having radiotherapy at the same time along with recovery from surgery so maybe any side effects were hidden by other aches and pains. If it continues or becomes worse then please let your oncologist know as they can change to another chemo drug. Wishing you all the best, take care.

  • Thank you for your quick reply. Clare

  • Hi Clare

I didn't have chemotherapy but I do know that Cisplatin can cause flu like aches and pains. I don't think it's a serious side effect but you should tell your team before your next infusion anyway.

  • Thank you. It’s nerve pain apparently and they gave me morphine. Would you mind me asking about your 3 Chemo sessions? Was it always meant to be 3 or did you have more planned?  I’ve been told I’m having 5.

  • Hi Clare different trusts do differing time scales. I actually  ended up having 2 x 10hour sessions so will correct above. I was planned for 3 sessions we all get the same amount just delivered in different amounts   Hence my sessions were 10 hours .I didn’t have the 3 rd session as my lump in neck had gone and in discussion with oncologist I decided not to have the 3 rd one. I had been lucky no hearing issues or sickness so decided ti leave it at 2 chemo  with our type of cancers is a too up to the main event radiotherapy. I know some  people who reacted so badly they only had one. If you have 5 sessions at 20 % that equates to 100% I had 2 sessions which equated to just over66% in simple maths was Hiw my oncologist explained it.
    hope this helps Hazel x

  • As Hazel says RT is the main event. The chemo acts to make the cancer more radio sensitive. I wasnt prescribed any.
