Just as it reads! I'm 4.5 weeks post treatment for hpv+ tonsil cancer. Last Saturday I woke up to no mucous and today I managed to eat most of a poached egg! I won't lie, it wasn't easy and hurt a fair bit, but the 'lump' feeling I've had when swallowing has all but diminished. I currently have a very sore 'razor blade' throat instead and a tender ulcer which is in a difficult position but it still feels like a major achievement! Onwards and upwards. It's my birthday in 3 weeks and I would love to have built myself up to something a bit exciting!
That's brilliant news. I had the same operation, both tonsils and base of tongue removed in two operations. This was in August 2021 and by Christmas I could eat anything. Some tastes had altered, but apart from that I managed my Christmas dinner. Fingers crossed for your Birthday you can have something exciting. Well done for your achievement so far :)
Hooray.......Poached eggs were a mainstay of my recovery too and It's funny how the mucous just goes practically overnight

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
Hi hoorah. Poached eggs were my go to food in fact they still are on those odd days I want something easy. Try well buttered toast white bread next with couple of eggs on top. It’s a great feeling. Well done .The mucus goes as quickly as it comes.

Hi Specrad
well done you. I had a lot of pain after RT. Until around 4 months when my eating came on leaps and bounds. We have been out to a restaurant this evening. I had 2 courses (soup snd duck) and I managed most of it. It was a massive breakthrough for me. Keep going. It can only get better. I always find it very emotional when I have any kind of breakthrough moment. Sending love.
