Hello
I am just over 2 years post treatment for HnN cancer of unknown primary. My bloods came back slightly elevated for my Thyroid , so the GP has put me on levothyroxine. last september.. The blood figure came down but not as much as she wanted, so I am now on double dose at 50mg. The only problem is, the insomnia which was mildish for last year, has come back in spades (waking at 2/3/5/6/8) and then feeling absolutely whacked for the whole day (overwhelming fatigue rather than just tired). I did feel so much better for the year after treatment finished, so wonder if a double dose is too much (not due next blood tests for another 2 or so weeks). Has anyone else suffered thyroid issues? How long did it take to get resolved? It could be something else, just seems too much of a co-incidence. I did a couple of posts regarding this but, they were 5 years old, so not sure if anyone is still around.
Thank you
Tricia
Hi Tricia
I began having problems with an underactive thyroid just a few months after my treatment finished. I'm on the same dosage as you and have been since I was prescribed levothyroxine back in January 2019.
I did wonder whether I was on the correct dose as I certainly havn't felt right but all my bloods seem to be OK each time. From what I could glean from Thyroiduk.org it can be a complicated matter to get the dosage right. It's a very helpful website in case you havn't looked.

I haven't Linda, but I will now you've told me it exists. The GP mentioned sometimes you can alternate between 25mg one day, and 50 the next. So I might try that if my bloods show I'm on the cusp. Hope you feel "more right" soon. Thank you.
Tricia
I'm on 75mg myself, recently upped from 50mg, due for another blood test this month; never really had much trouble sleeping though. My late wife had thyroid problems for more than twenty years so I've seen extremes of over and under-active function first hand, can be very difficult to get the balance right as Linda suggested, hopefully yours will be right soon Tricia.
