Hey I am new to this forum and have only posted a couple of times and had such supportive advice. Sadly today has been tougher than yesterday . This morning all positive hospital said my husband was coming home oncologist happy. He has had 5days radiotherapy now 4weeks off. But he has copd long term and the respiratory team have become involved lved. So I've spent all day in hospital with husband saying he needs to come home then the nurse tells us no oxygen will be allowed home with my husband if he has smoked in the house in the past 6weeks. I am broken I managed to convince him to stay tonight they are trying another inhaler and he has told them he is discharging himself tomorrow. I just don't understand the denying oxygen?? He's not smoking anymore and hasn't for weeks. Would appreciate any advice please. So sorry for the rant
Hi. All I can suggest is that you ask them to explain. There must be some reason. I presume you told them he doesn’t smoke any more?

Good evening Hippycat, i don't know why if your husband has stopped as it should not be a problem, but i don't know the rules and regulations with having oxygen at home except oxygen can be very dangerous when naked flames or sparks are present. It does annoy me one team says all is fine then someone else says the opposite, they should all work together. Let's hope your husband can be discharged tomorrow. All the best, take care.

Yes I just looked it up. They won’t give you oxygen if you have naked flames in the house. So that’s a fire and cooking with gas?

Well that’s ridiculous. Are his sats back to near normal?

Chris2012 Ithankyou for reply. Yes its so frustrating that each team has a different version of the situation. It's just made me more determined to insist they explain their concerns and I know my husband will come home whatever they say as its not his cancer causing the concern but a condition copd he has lived with for years
I hope he can settle in at home, at least he will be more comfortable and you’ll be together. At least his treatment for the cancer is finished and he’s managed to get through that.
