Curious to know if anyone else lost there voice??? Kids are very chesty at the mo sore throats and coughs (negative for covid) but worried as I'm not sure if everything is treatment related or he has also caught something from them
Hi Bex I didn’t loose my voice it certainly wasn’t strong in those first few weeks But treatment is tough and certainly takes it out of us.
. Keep him hydrated that vital aim for 3 litres a day water if you can plus sufficient nutrition . With the school s going back theres bound to be colds etc. Just keep your eye on him. Did his temperature settle down ?
Recovery is hard not sure if you’ve read the what happens after treatment article it’s a good read might help you in understanding what happens next.

Thanks Hazel I'll give it a read now...yes temp did settle the hot flushes continue but with this British weather who can blame him haha!
Hi Bex,
I lost mine, not completely but pretty much. Hubbie was my voice for a couple of weeks on phone appointments. I think in part as I was really struggling to swallow, only managed a few sips of water a day. Was putting 3 litres liquid through peg. It gradually got stronger. I steamed over some hot water every couple of hours and that helped too.
He'll get through this horrible stage soon. There can be the odd stumble back, but then you get to a point where you think wow and see how much progress you gave made every few days / weeks.
Thinking of you all, Ronnie x
As everyone has said, it's a very possible consequence, didn't happen to me but quite normal.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Hi Carran,
Sorry you've been sick I was just building up from 10 sips of water a day at your point and virtually unable to talk. It should come back soon though, keep it rested. 6 months on I'm back teaching. You're in the toughest phase. It will improve soon.
Take care, Ronnie x
