Hello to you all,

I have just completed my first week of radiotherapy and for the last couple of days of it I must admit to feeling a little sickly, nauseous.

I was told to try things such as sparking water, lemonade, ginger ale or even eat a ginger biscuit though I have yet to try the ginger ale none of the others really worked.

I also now believe that the sickness feeling comes around more when I eat something because yesterday was the worst day of the week and I have eaten normally all week and really only Thursday / Friday  did I get this slow build up of feeling sick.

I have not had breakfast as yet today Saturday but again I was told to maybe, eat little and often but the sickness feeling today  though I feel it hovering it as not bothered me as much.

Assuming this is normal can I ask how anyone else has coped with it?

Thank you all in advance.

Tony

Hi there Min, I think you make some very valid points there you all have and I think eating is right so today just because I didn't breakfast I have eaten since little and often.

I do have a machine for blood pressure so I will get it out, I don't know why but I never have been very good at looking after myself especially when it comes to daily  routines.

    Take care

  • Hi AG14 I have been similar but all this has really bucked my ideas and habits up. I use to dread taking my medication every morning having to crush tablets etc that I couldn't swallow . I just remembered cocodamal tablets made me feel really ill and went on the morphine instead. You might be better writing stuff down etc so you dont miss things you need to do. Weetabixs with warm milk, berries  microwaved makes a simple meal . All the Best Regards Minmax

yes I think we all have to take a long hard look at ourselves occasionally and I couldn't agree with you more but you know what encourages me more than just listening to a doctor? It's all this, this community.

So far, I have the community feedback and paying attention to all those bits of advice and  a friend gave me an L shaped pillow the other day, that idea came from the community.

I also think cross each bridge as it approaches especially cometh the weekends.

One last question for now does everyone still do their exercises come the weekend? now those I have been doing daily but a part of me had thought I would get a break from that too.

    Best Wishes

  • Daily for now. I used to do mine sitting in car on way to treatment in fact I probably did them st least 5/6times a day. Which paid off as I haven had any swallow or mouth opening issues.

  • Hi AG14 Nice one with the L pillow. Silly as it sounds the exercises really do help as they keep your mouth fulling functioning so your mouth can open . There is different exercises for people with different treatments. I was a lazy git but did do them in a fashion so you should do as you might want to eat a huge gob stopper some day . All the best Regards Minmax

Hi Tony. As often as you can. The more you do the less likely you are to have fibrosis. I did them religiously and can open my mouth as wide as I ever did.
