Hi again,
My brothers pet scan came back today showing no further spread, which is great news, however the surgeon is now saying that he might not be fit enough for the extensive surgery, recovery and radiotherapy. If he isn't fit enough he will only have months to live.
Has anyone been in this situation. I'm desperate to hear good news as its been 7 long weeks to get to this point
Most grateful to you all
Hello again Jye
So sorry to hear that your brothers doctors feel the cancer is too advanced to treat. It must be a huge blow to you.
I can recall a lady whose mum was refusing treatment for similar reasons.
The clinicians maybe consider treatment actually making the quality of life unbearable. Treatment is extremely harsh, brutal even and if you add extensive surgery you do have to be in fairly good health.
Has your brother got any support from hospital, a Macmillan nurse perhaps to explain and counsel?
I wish you the very best in what is going to be an emotional and challenging time.
