At my RT Planning on Wednesday, I was handed a jacket that I have to bring with me for each session. Basically it is a sleeveless jacket, split between two breast pieces joined at the sides, front and shoulders with Velcro. Has anyone else used these?

  • Nope I had a new gown each session maybe it is to save n h s washing and new COVID rules just a thought.

  • I went in my own clothes, wore a crop top rather than a bra and slipped the straps down over my shoulders. Is it a heavy jacket? Have you got a pacemaker? ( sorry probably a daft question )

    Can you post a picture?

  • No pacemaker- yet

I will take a photo tomorrow and post for all to see.

  • I have just been wearing normal clothes, I wonder if it is anything to do with you having had heart surgery? Or maybe your hospital just does it to keep you covered on the table? Will be interesting to find out, look forward to seeing the photo!

  • Yes which is why I asked about the pacemaker...

Pericardial disease, ischemic heart disease, nonischemic cardiomyopathy, valvular disease, conduction abnormalities, and arrhythmias have all been independently linked to chest radiation

In which case it will be a protection vest

Anyway....anybody who has had neck radiation should be on statins whether they have high blood cholesterol or not. There is a significant reduction in strokes post RT.

  • Yes, I had a gown (and no heart problems). I think it’s standard practice at my Trust, Covid or not. It’s a good thing because when you change out of it at the end of each session you can properly slather the moisturiser all over the affected area.

  • Sorry folks but I cannot work out how to include photos in a post. I have the files on my hard drive and also in Google Drive. Can anyone advise - I have checked Technical Help section without success.

  • If you click on "insert" below the text box you'll get a drop down menu, select "Image/video file" and you'll get the image below, then just click on "upload" and select the picture. Should work.
