  • Hi Hazel Sorry to hear that about your neck and hope its not painful. I did mention the pains at a meeting and it was kind of glossed over. I have since spoke to my nurse same person and she is going on about swelling from RT but that was over 3 months ago, It started off with ear ache which I got checked by the doctor and all ok. I dont know if its good or bad but the pains moved and have more or less gone from head to neck last night and now to nearly nothing. I suppose my concerns were I ended up taking cocodamol for the pain which was getting bad. My appointment has been cancelled for seeing specialist tomorrow as I need to have a Pet scan first so won't be seeing him until 19th or might be phone call depending on results. All the Best Regards Min

  • Hi Minmax, is. Nearly 8 months post treatment and get the odd ear ache and neck ache, I’ve asked the ENT doctors about this a few times and they assure me it’s normal, but if it was persistent earache, or sore throat or anything else like that, that’s when it would a worry. Is yours persistent or on and off?

  • Hi Superstar Thanks . on and off , it just started with an earache  which doctor checked  and random pains in head on surface and not headaches. The ear ache stopped and went to head and then side of my neck and has now gone . Nurse said  this can happen I dont know if she is just trying to appease me until I get my scan as I have been fine since treatment finished All the Best Regards  Min

  • Obviously I’m no doctor but judging by what my doctors say it shouldn’t be a worry.

I oddly sometimes get a bit of pain in my ear if I use a hot toothpaste aswell, less so now but when I was more fresh out of treatment it was most times I brushed my teeth

  • Hi Superstar Yes point taken just my mind working overtime which achieves nothing. I do find rinsing my mouth in the morning with hot water helps . All the Best Regards Min

  • I had all that in spades .... particularly the earache and jaw on the treatment side plus a scratchy throat for ages

  • Hi min. To be honest it rarely bothers me. I know what it is plus it’s a Late onset side effect from radiotherapy not everyone gets it. In my case it’s if I am chopping veg in kitchen si remedy is get hubby to do it. Lol. No seriously if he’s around he does it otherwise I stop sit down for a few mins then continue. I’ve exercises to do when I feel it. It dies the effect my biking walking gardening or anything else it’s the action with a knife strange but true. Try not to stress about your scan you’ve come this far xx

  • Scratchy throat and swollen neck feeling (even though it doesn’t look swollen) here 4 months after tonsillectomy, neck dissection and chemoradiation.

  • Thanks Dani I hope  nothing to painful. I suppose I wish they just told me that loads of weird things may happen. I remember taking pills which made my feet cold which was horrible apparently a side effect of those pills
