hi everyone! So I’ve just completed my 6 weeks of chemo radiation. Doing rather well really. Anti sickness meds working. Radiotherapy burns not too bad. Not had a feeding tube as I can still eat porridge, soups, ice cream, custard & the protein drinks from dietitian. Managed to not loose more than a couple of pounds in weight
I actually feel good apart from my mouth and not eating properly
I have some pretty bad ulcers on my tongue and sore gums. I’m on paracetamol, codine, & oramorph for pain but still managing.
my question is recovery times and I know it’s different for everyone, but when did you guys start to eat proper things again? I’m so hungry and looking forward to eating something substantial again.
any advice would be greatly appreciated!
regards
Samantha
Hi Bill yes i agree , i drink ales nowadays instead of lager , stout or Guinness is also a new favourite. Cheers.

Hi Shell I was probably about 10 weeks out of treatment. You can ask for extra sauce or better still get a sauce on its own which lubricates the noodles for eating. Unfortunately I tried the prawn masala to soon along with the korma. Defo things are improving but I kind of screwed up yesterday making a vegetable and bean curry by adding a heaped tablespoon of curry power . Just a bit to hot for comfort. Might try a masala later lol All the Best Regards Min
Hi MarkEL I hope You are doing well also . It was a bit like the twilight zone. It really lifts me up when I feel better and normal again. I got out this morning for my walk which I really think helps. I just have to remember to start doing these swallowing exercises as apparently it really helps down the line. All the Best Regards Min
HI yes the swallow exercises should be done through treatment if yiu can and intomrecovery. I used to do mine in the car on way to hospital or at the kitchen sink.
glad you are getting g there
