Hi All
Been offline the last week or so, just wanted to let you all know my treatment is now finished and to thank people for their support along the way (i know hard times are still to come)
Its definitely been brutal, solids have completely gone by the wayside, i live on fortisip and milk now ...and i have had to drop the amount i work to 25 hours a week as doing full time work was killing me.
Neck is a bit of a mess, and mucus rules my life! But still here, and hopefully recovery is ahead.
So, overall feeling positive, my only real concern is that work seem to think ill be back to full time work in no time which i am less sure about. And obviously nervous about whether it has worked
Thanks again all.
Hi concentrate on getting through recovery if you’ve managed to do any work you have done very well. Don’t even think about further down the line put your trust in the treatment youve got at least 3 months before any scans m in my case it was 18 weeks before pet ct scan .Well done on completing treatment ,don’t rush the next stage keep on top ig nutrition and important at least 2-3 litres of water .

Thanks for the update Trev, well done in getting through the treatment, it makes sense to use the Fortisips and milk until your swallowing has recovered, i think you are doing well in doing 25 hours so i think your company should be grateful you are still working so don't rush back to full-time as your body needs a rest. Pleased you are feeling more positive now, just concentrate on your recovery now as you have come a long way since your first post , all the best.

Hi TrevW,
Great that you’ve finished your treatment. I’m amazed you’re working, even part time! I definitely could not have done that. I went back to work on a phased in basis after treatment finished which I think was around 3 months.
I can remember clearly the fatigue.
Don’t burn yourself out, your body needs to recover.
All the best,

Crikey Trev you must be an iron man......... still working
Well done, you sound like you are going to make a brilliant recovery. If you can soldier on for the next month I recon you'll be up and at em in no time. Just shows how we are all so different. I was in bits at your stage, but then I am much older than you and head wasn't in the right place either. Brilliant.

Great news Trev I’m 2 weeks post, managed to do a little work throughout but didn’t push myself to be honest. I was admitted to hospital twice for neutropenia sepsis (where I didn’t work lol). I feel a lot better, desperate for a burger but I’m a long way off that. My biggest problem is burning in my tongue, and of course the dreaded mucus. Keep up the nutrition and the positive vibes. Best of luck. Pamela
How lovely to hear from you Pamela and to hear you’ve got through treatment. You are in the middle of the worst time but it gets better. Gelclair is good for your mouth at this stage. Have you tried that?
A nice emollient mouthwash like Biotene helps too.
I hipe you continue to improve. Xx

Thanks for the lovely comments all.
Working is only remotely, its less of a deal than it sounds.
And i am definitely not an iron man :) i had a mini meltdown during week 4 (which resulted in better pain meds!)
In fact that is the take i would give anyone starting this treatment...if your pain is not controlled..definitely speak out.
Totally with you on the mucus Pamela!! has that shown any signs of easing yet? i would say mucus and its associated nausea is worse than the pain for me.
