Hi all,

I've not been on here for a while, been back at work, doing many hours and just trying to get on with my life. February 2018 I found out I had cancer in my neck, after scans it determined it was hpv cancer that started in my left tonsil, spread to lymph nodes in left side of neck, which is where I found my first lump. I had neck dissection then had life threatening bleed at home which ended up with me being on crash trolley, then transferred to ICU. Survived that and went on to have radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Got the thumbs up that pet-ct scan was clear 6-7 months post treatment.

Approx 1-2 weeks ago I have discovered another lump in my neck, same side as last time but further up my neck. It's not massive but from feeling it, it's about the size of a 2p. It feels like it is very close to some muscle, so I'm hoping it is maybe muscle or scar tissue or something? Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what was the outcome? I rang my macmillan nurse on Friday and have got an appointment to see my Consultant this Wednesday.

As anyone that has had head/neck cancer, we know what our necks feel like to touch and so I can confidently say it was not there 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for reading,

Much love and support to everyone

Rachel

  • Hi Rachel , pleased that managed to get back to work and things have settled down , well done for ringing straight away and getting a quick appointment (how it should be) It has happened to me twice with lumps appearing after having them checked it turned out to be scar tissue . Sometimes it can be an infected lymph node which feels like a lump also and can be simply treated with antibiotics in most cases . Again well done for checking your neck and seeking advice straight away , don't panic because you are being see so quick its jus because of you past history , they don't want to take chances . I still have a lump in my neck ,not visible , that was checked and given the all clear , they said do I want it removed but  I decided to leave it there as it does not cause any hassle plus at the time I was sick of surgery . Good luck with your appointment with your consultant on Wednesday , fingers crossed .
