I'm eating a lot better now and are hopefully having my peg out on Monday.
I had a big delivery of Fortisips on Thursday, even though I still had loads left over and now have nearly a dozen boxes of 24
I asked my nutritionist if Nutricia would have them back but he said if they did they would only destroy them
Is there anywhere I can donate them to, or if not could I sell them on eBay then donate the money I raise.
I see others sell on eBay, but it doesn't seem right when it is something I haven't paid for.
Penrod I tried all sorts of ways to give my pile of the things back but to no avail, they're "prescription" obtained so as such are non-transferable. Ridiculous when you consider there are people starving in the world every day who these could keep alive.
Those selling on ebay are beneath contempt.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
A homeless shelter in Reading took all my left over Ensures.
I asked a foodbank, but they said they didn’t think they had anyone that would need them.
June 14 surgery for Carcinoma in sublingual salivary gland. Partial glossectomy, left neck dissection, reconstruction with left radial forearm free. flap. Postoperative radiotherapy 6 weeks.
The District Nurses at my GP practice took mine (The Pharmacy said they would have had to destroy them). I think the HeaD & Neck nurses would have taken them (quietly & discretly).

Thanks all, I've emailed the hospice I go to for my lymphoedema massage to see if they want them or know anywhere that does.
Seems such a waste if no one will have them, must be at least £300 worth
Shame they sent the last batch out, I missed a call from them 2 days before, had I got it I would have cancelled them and that was before I knew my tube was coming out on Monday.
I agree with MikeO and don't think it seems right to sell them on eBay but if donating the proceeds to local hospice do you think it is OK? is it legal even when you get them on prescription?
Hello Penrod , i think it is shocking that these plus other items cannot be returned , i have had the same problem with Ensures as the ones with fibre in did not agree with me but i could not get rid of them . I also have the same problem with replacement p.e.g feeding tubes, syringes and adaptors as Abbott keep sending them to me despite me saying i dont need anymore yet . To me its a waste of money that comes out of tax payers pockets as its all on prescription , i know that these drinks are very expensive as i have looked them up and was shocked at the price . Good luck in getting rid of them .
Chris .
Nutricia came and took our leftovers away. It took ages because the dietician had to sign off that they were no longer needed and it took her more than 6 weeks to make a simple phone call - in fact she never did it, I had to ask one of her colleagues. It only happened when I threatened to throw them out with the rubbish. In the meantime huge boxes of the stuff were cluttering our home like an awful reminder. At the time we assumed they would be given to another patient and only found out afterwards that they would be binned. It’s a disgrace.
Keep the Faith

I contacted my local foodbank and they were very grateful to receive them, as well as other items such as Tena pads.
Hi Penrod
You are so lucky in the U.K. that you get Fortisip on prescription so don’t have to pay anything. In Australia I have to order and pay for my own so have to be careful that they are accounted for in the budget. With the cost of living rising so much I have just changed over to Sustagen that I can buy at my local Chemist Warehouse as it works out cheaper and is not such a bit bite out of the budget at one time.
Wish I lived in the U.K. as I would gladly buy any leftovers people have.
Hope you find somewhere that can use them so they are not wasted.
Lyn
