You’ve come to the right place! It’s extremely scary at first but your cancer seems to have been identified very early so I think you’re in a good place. My advice. Stay clear of Dr Google and make sure you get answers to any questions from your Oncologist. And don’t be afraid to ask. 
Make good use of this forum - there are so many of us similarly affected. You’ll soon come to realise life with cancer isn’t as bad as you’d imagined.

Thanks David,  yes Doctor Google is not the bestbwat to find things out. Thankfully I have a lovely supportive wife, who was a theatre recovery nurse for 20 years,  and keeps me grounded. 

We will find out my next part of the journey this week,  oncologist on Wednesday and surgeon on Friday.

Hi Peter. Good luck with your journey. Not an easy ride but there is a life to be lived after all of this.  You are lucky as it has been caught early and also that you have been offered  and are able to take on a curative route. Plenty of info.and support on here if you need it. I have just had  my 3 year post op.anniversary and I celebrate every day.

Thanks,  I'm trying to stay positive,  but sometimes it's hard. I am also lucky to have family and some very supportive friends too. Had a lovely day yesterday with my running community,  did a parkrun in the morning,  told a couple of friends who didn't kn0w, very supportive. Then on the evening a BBQ with more of them, so supportive.

Sorry to hear your news but at times like these you find people so supportive. When I was diagnosed I had never heard of anyone who had this cancer and although I talk to people on this group in the same situation I have never actually met anyone face to face.

sorry to say evening BBQ’s might become a thing of the past as might drinking but enjoy while to can ! Wishing you well xx

Yep, I realise that, and making the most of things while I can . I haven't drunk alcohol for 20 years now,  so I'm not going to miss it.

Sadly I know quite a few people who have had , or have cancer.  But we all think it's not going to happen to me ...

Yes many with cancer but none with oesophageal cancer resulting in aesophagectomy ! Which I had 16 months ago.
