Hi ,
This is my first time on this site my husband has been diagnosed with T3 cancer squamous cell cancer , he also type two diabetes which from what the surgeon says can make things difficult . James was seen in 2025 with symptoms but wasn’t called back for repeat scans and treatment as it shown high grade cell changes . We don’t really have faith in the hospital treating him and just wanted to ask if anyone else had ever asked for a second opinion at a different hospital ? If so how long did it take as l don’t want to prolong treatment which isn’t till 17 th April thanks. Any advice would be helpful
Yes, i was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in August last year at Hereford, and asked if i could have a 2nd opinion at The Royal Marsden hospital in London which they were fine with. It only took several weeks before i received an appointment.
Hi thank you the cancer was found in 2025. But was missed so l am worried if we leave it any longer it will spread we have the Christie in Manchester but worried if we have to wait several weeks to be seen or let them look after him but have no faith as they missed it
Jane
Sending positive thoughts your way for your husband, and hope things will work out for him.
Thank you it is just so frightening and not knowing what they are going to do if anything James is saying he is fine but me l have fell apart and don’t know how to help him ,
Jane
Are you sure it is a second opinion from a different hospital that you need?
Although your husband was not diagnosed with cancer in 2025. Histological changes were noted and the transformation to cancer has been detected early.
Perhaps seek clarification from another member of the MDT first? The Christie is one of the best cancer hospitals in Europe.
We have spoke to the surgeon at Royal Stoke and to be honest he didn’t give us any clarity he seemed scared to commit to anything as he was concerned that an investigation to why James didn’t get called back for servalence or treatment last year . It’s Christie’s l want to be referred to our Gp said she would due to the negligence of him being missed l want to know if anyone else had been here and how long was it before they were seen .l appreciate your text and l know what you mean l just don’t feel he is getting the best care his first scan was the 12 th of January this year after swallowing issues 4 biopsies later a PET scan CT scan and we now have to wait till the end of April to see the oncologist .
