Hi

Has anyone had the above ( HBOT). Ive read it can help with chemotherapy and radiotherapy

  • Hi Barrysam

I am sorry that you have not yet had a reply to your question but sometimes it can just take a few days longer for someone who has undergone a treatment to see it and respond.

While you are waiting do give the Support Line a call and talk to one of the nurses about HBOT if it would help answer some of your questions.

I have just done a search on the Macmillan site and will pop a link below. It shows other posts about HBOT and it may help to see other people's experiences.

I wish you well for your treatment and if there is anything else we can help you with, please do ask.

  • Hi Barrysam,

I am about to start hyperbaric treatment myself in a few weeks (after chemoradiotherapy). I have heard really good things about it - I spoke to a couple of nurses, consultants and also patients (now hospital volunteers) who have direct experience of it -and they said it drastically altered the grim after effects. It also rapidly healed tissue/accelerated healing - and was overall a very positive experience!

    Xx

  • Wonder how beneficial it is getting it before treatment abd how many session is needed?

  • I spoke to my cancer nurse who said she'd found people varied their approach. Some did it weeks before for a couple of 30-60 min sessions. And others waited right to the end - to just get the treatment out of the way - and then mop up the effects. My nurse also said I could do it during the radiotherapy but I never checked that out further as I felt like I wanted to just do the treatment - then deal with it afterwards. Xx
