The dreaded mucus

Hi, I’m new here. My husband is 10 weeks post op, he is doing amazingly well all things considered, he’s back to driving and his much loved swimming. The one thing that is really getting him down is the terrible bucket loads (as he describes it) of mucus that he is getting. It is really putting him off eating because it can make him vomit when the food sits on the mucus. I’m trying to understand what is causing it, is it saliva, is it mucus from the oesophagus, but I can’t seem to really get to the bottom of this or understand how to ease it. Any info or tips would be very welcome

  • Hi. I think the problem is not unusual. I continue to cough up mucus after 2 years. Perhaps not to the degree you describe. These kind of things are always worth referring to your Upper GI contact to see if they can offer anything to help.
